Introduction: Partial anomalous pulmonary venous return (PAPVR) might be treated with single patch or double patch technique. In this study, we evaluated the results of these techniques in adult patients with PAPVR.
Methods: We reviewed patients, treated due to PAPVR, in two groups according to surgical techniques.
Results: Double patch repair technique and single patch repair technique was performed in 12 patients (Group 1) and 17 patients (Group 2), sincerely. Three patients, with distance between ostium of anomalous pulmonary vein and cava-atrial junction more than 10 mm, in Group 2 needed surgical re-intervention because of superior vena cava stenosis. There was no sinus node dysfunction and no mortality in both groups.
Conclusion: In adult patients with PAPVR, double patch repair technique has better results than single patch repair technique, especially in the patients with ostium of distal anomalous pulmonary vein is more than 10 mm away from the cava-atrial junction.
